The Handprints at the End of the Hall When we were small Our hats, boots, and gloves Hung on the wall at the end of the hall Our hands, they were messy, and they always left prints All over the wall at the end of the hall When we grew up, we decided to wash The prints off the wall at the end of the hall Our mother said, "Wash every room, every wall But don't touch the wall at the end of the hall" We each asked her why, then we got her reply "Those prints on the wall at the end of the hall Help me remember when you were all small A smile on my face, I'll never erase Those prints on the wall at the end of the hall."

Richard Thompson's famous group F has the striking property that it can be realized as a dense subgroup of the group of all orientation-preserving homeomorphisms of the unit interval, but it can also be given by a simple 2-generator-2-relator presentation, in fact as the fundamental group of an aspherical complex with only two cells in each dimension. This monograph studies a natural generalization of F that also includes Melanie Stein's generalized F-groups. The main aims of this monograph are the determination of isomorphisms among the generalized F -groups and the study of their automorphism groups. This book is aimed at graduate students (or teachers of graduate students) interested in a class of examples of torsion-free infinite groups with elements and composition that are easy to describe and work with, but have unusual properties and surprisingly small presentations in terms of generators and defining relations.

This book presents the history, philosophy, and mathematics of the major systems of propositional logic. Classical logic, modal logics, many-valued logics, intuitionism, paraconsistent logics, and dependent implication are examined in separate chapters. Each begins with a motivation in the originators' own terms, followed by the standard formal semantics, syntax, and completeness theorem. The chapters on the various logics are largely self-contained so that the book can be used as a reference. An appendix summarizes the formal semantics and axiomatizations of the logics. The view that unifies the exposition is that propositional logics comprise a spectrum: as the aspect of propositions under consideration varies, the logic varies. Each logic is shown to fall naturally within a general framework for semantics. A theory of translations between logics is presented that allows for further comparisons, and necessary conditions are given for a translation to preserve meaning. For this third edition the material has been re-organized to make the text easier to study, and a new section on paraconsistent logics with simple semantics has been added which challenges standard views on the nature of consequence relations. The text includes worked examples and hundreds of exercises, from routine to open problems, making the book with its clear and careful exposition ideal for courses or individual study.

The Year is 2031. It’s been three years since Skynet’s failed time-travel attempt to kill Sarah Connor. During these years, John Connor’s organized force of freedom fighters have been beaten back, and reduced to rag-tag independent squads. Just south of Miami, Skynet has constructed a human replication complex–or Flesh Farm. The computer’s goal, being to breed a new race of mankind. A race that is machine sympathetic. A Florida based pocket of freedom fighters, nicknamed Sarah’s Slammers, has pledged to destroy this complex. With grim determination, but little in the way of firepower, they face this challenge–but it’s clear from the start that this is a hopeless crusade. As determined as they are, they need help. Big-time help.

There, he meets a nosy watchdog named Sam and is captured by a boy named Garf and kept as a pet. Our unit provides teachers with a highly structured format for teaching language arts as students develop a love for reading longer materials like novels. Various areas such as reading comprehension, vocabulary development, spelling, grammar, and writing are all entwined in this integrated approach eliminating the need for teaching these skills separately. This Novel Study provides a teacher and student section with a variety of activities, chapter questions, crossword, word search, and answer key to create a well-rounded lesson plan.
